Jeneanne > We had mapped out the trip on Mapquestfrom Bryce Canyon to Monument Valley and it said "some portions unpaved". We didn't think it would be any big deal, that maybe there would be a couple of stretches of dirt roads in that 43 mile stretch. Well after a couple of miles of blacktop, we came to an "unpaved portion" which turned out to be the remaining 41 miles. We're not talking about dirt roads, we're talking about roads carved out of solid (jagged) rock.
Jeneanne > If you look at this photo at original size you will see that the sign says "reduced speed ahead". (If I'd been driving any slower we would have been going backwards). Also if you look at the photo at it's original size it will give you an idea of how rough this road was (although this wasn't the worst stretch)
Jeneanne > This kind of gives you an idea of the road streching out before us. We kept thinking that eventually we'd reach blacktop or something a little smoother.
